Privacy Policy
01Who we are
Syllabus (joinsyllabus.com) is a marketplace for complete university subjects. For anything in this policy, contact us at hello@joinsyllabus.com — that address reaches a human.
02What we collect
Account data: your email address, and your name and avatar if you sign in with Google. Learning activity: which subjects you enroll in, lessons you complete, and quiz attempts — that's how progress and certificates work. Purchases: order records (subject, price, date); card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers. If you teach: your institutional email, used once to verify your academic affiliation. Technical: standard server logs and anonymous, cookieless usage analytics.
03What we don't do
We don't sell or rent your data. We don't run advertising or share your data with ad networks. We don't use tracking cookies — the only cookies we set are your session (to keep you signed in) and your language preference.
04Certificates are public
When you complete a subject, your certificate lives at a public, permanent link showing your name, the subject, and the completion date — that's what makes it verifiable and shareable. If you want a certificate taken down or the name changed, email us.
05Who processes data for us
We use a small set of infrastructure providers, each receiving only what their job requires: Vercel (hosting and anonymous analytics), Neon (database), Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), Cloudflare (file storage), Google (only if you choose Google sign-in), and Upstash (abuse prevention — sign-in attempt counters that expire within an hour). Data is hosted in the United States.
06Your rights
You can ask us to show you, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you — email hello@joinsyllabus.com and we'll act on it. Deleting your account removes your personal data; purchase records we're legally required to keep are retained in anonymized form. If you're in the EU (GDPR) or Brazil (LGPD), these are your statutory rights and you can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
07Retention & children
We keep your data while your account exists and delete it on request. Syllabus is not directed at children under 16; we don't knowingly collect their data.
08Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll announce it on the site before it takes effect.
